Every cookie UCN VPN sets, what each one is for, how long it lasts, and how to change what you have allowed.

The Three Categories
One runs automatically; two wait for your permission.
Every cookie on UCN VPN falls into one of three groups. Only the first runs without asking you.
Strictly necessary
These make the site work and cannot be switched off. They keep you signed in, protect forms against forgery, and remember the cookie choices you have already made. Without them the dashboard cannot function.
Analytics
Set only if you allow them. They tell us in aggregate which pages get visited, how people arrive, and where they leave, so we know what to fix and what to build. They do not identify you personally and are never combined with your account data.
Marketing
Set only if you allow them. They would let us and our advertising partners measure how campaigns perform and show relevant ads elsewhere. This category is off unless you turn it on.
Note
The banner appears on your first visit and nothing in the analytics or marketing categories runs until you accept it. Rejecting them has no effect on your ability to use UCN VPN.
Strictly Necessary Cookies
The ones we set no matter what you choose.
Disabling these will sign you out of the dashboard and cause the cookie banner to reappear on every page.

Analytics Cookies
Google Tag Manager and website measurement.
We use Google Tag Manager, provided by Google Ireland Limited, to load and control the measurement scripts that run on our public website. Tag Manager is a container rather than a tracker: it sets no analytics or advertising cookies of its own. What it does is decide which other tags load, and when — and your consent choice is what tells it.
The tags we load through it are analytics tags that measure use of our marketing website. They are not loaded inside the UCN VPN applications.

How consent is enforced
Your choice is passed to Google using Google Consent Mode, which sets the analytics_storage, ad_storage, ad_user_data, and ad_personalization signals. Where a signal is denied, the corresponding tag either does not run at all or runs without reading or writing cookies.
What it measures
Pages viewed and their order, approximate location derived from a truncated IP address, referring source, device and browser type, and rough session duration. It never receives your name, your email address, your billing details, or anything about your VPN sessions.

Google's own handling of this data is described in its Privacy Policy. You can also opt out at the browser level with Google's Analytics opt-out add-on.
Third-Party Cookies
Other services that may set a cookie.
Besides Google, two other services we rely on may set cookies of their own:
Stripe — payments
Stripe sets cookies to detect fraud and to keep card entry secure. These run on the pages where you add a payment method or check out, and are necessary for payments to work at all. See Stripe's cookie policy.
Google — signing in
If you choose to sign in with Google, Google sets its own cookies as part of authenticating you. These are set by Google on its own domains, under its Privacy Policy, and only if you use that sign-in option.
Note
We do not sell cookie data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Identifiers in the Apps
Why the mobile free tier is different.
The UCN VPN applications are not web pages and do not use cookies. They do use the platform's own storage to keep you signed in and to remember your settings.
On Android and iOS, the optional advertisements that extend the free daily allowance are served by third-party advertising providers, which may use your device's advertising identifier — the platform equivalent of an advertising cookie — to serve and measure them.
- Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads lets you reset or delete the advertising ID and opt out of personalisation
- iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking controls whether apps may request to track you
- A paid Subscription removes advertising from the apps entirely, and with it this identifier
Note
These identifiers belong to the advertising in the app. They are never applied to the traffic in your tunnel, which is not recorded at all — see Advertising on the Free Tier.
Managing Your Choices
Change your mind at any time.
Use the cookie preferences button in the corner of any page on our public website to review or change what you have allowed. Withdrawing consent stops further collection straight away; it does not erase measurements already recorded, though you can ask us to delete those as well.
You can also control cookies through your browser, which will clear both our cookies and everyone else's:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies
Important
Clearing cookies in your browser also clears the record of your consent choices, so the banner will ask you again on your next visit. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will sign you out of the dashboard.

We may update this Cookie Policy as the service changes or as we add or remove a tag. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent revision.
